"Certain Proof" airs nationally on STARZ, March 3rd. Thanks to Ray and Susan Ellis of Footpath Pictures for asking me to score the film, it's an incredible view into the life of three incredible kids.
Rod will be a featured speaker at this year's Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco, his talk is titled "The Art of Music and Sound Desigin In Games". Rod will explore how video games music and sound have become an art form.

After a long wait for stateside MMORPG fans, TERA is finally avaiable in the U.S. Rod composed over 120 minutes for the awarded winning game created by Bluehole Studios and Enmasse Entertainment. The scores were recorded live with the Northwest Sinfonia at London Bridge Studios in Seattle.

Every so often a special project comes along like no other that I've composed for before. Certain Proof is a feature documentary by Ray and Susan Ellis about three children living with severe communication and physical disabilities, who struggle against society in an emotional battle to prove their worth. It's already getting special viewings at the Vail Film Festival, Dances With Films and the Seattle True Independent Film Festival. I'm very proud to have worked with these two incredibly talented filmmakers of Footpath Pictures on this important and touching film.

RAGE wins IGN's award for Best Overall Game at E3 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. Rod is composing the entire score for RAGE, currently under development by id Software and published by Bethesda Software.
Rod is creating an original soundtrack for Despicable Me: The Game for D3Publisher and Universal Pictures. Coinciding with the animated film's debut and mirroring its premise of a supervillain (voiced by Steve Carell) plotting to steal the moon, Despicable Me: The Game lets you "experience the thrill of being downright despicable". Despicable Me: The Game will launch on the Wii, DS, PSP and PS2 this July.

Rod leads this GDC panel exploring how the music of first generation 8-bit games was created and what makes it so well loved by gamers of all ages. What makes those old 8-bit tunes still so endearing, instantly recognizable and still fun to listen to? He will explore the glory days of game music, how it was created under unbelievable technical restrictions compared to today's production standards. He'll also explore how the modern day composer and audio director can use many of the same concepts and techniques used in first generation in today's music. Rod composed for Sega's exciting new thriller Alpha Protocol and collaborated with world reknown recording artist/producer BT who composed the Alpha Protocol main theme. Many of the tracks were recorded live with the Northwest Symphonia at the Bastyr Chapel in Seattle. Obsidian will take you on a journey they hope will meld the aura of the three JBs -- Jason Bourne, Jack Bauer and James Bond. Players take on the role of Michael Thorton, a special agent who has been betrayed by his superiors and hunted by his own country for perhaps knowing too much. Available for the PC, PLAYSTATION 3, and Xbox 360 in spring 2010.
Rod scored and mixed the new trailer for Darksiders: Wrath of War being developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ and rated a 9.2 on Gametrailers.com. The trailer features War, one of the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse on the rampage.

Rod is proud of his involvement in the award winning DEAD SPACE game. Rod and Rednote created scores for The Wheelman being developed by Tigon Studios U.K. and Midway Games. The game takes place in Barcelona, and the developers at Midway’s Newcastle studio are really focused on making this the ultimate car-chase game. Gamer-actor Vin Diesel will star in the “entertainment property” that will manifest itself as an MTV/Paramount film and a next-gen Midway game in spring 2009.
Rod and Rednote are scoring Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, a third-person shooter with a sense of humor for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 being developed by Vicious Cycle Software and D3Publisher.

Activision signed on Rod Abernethy and Rednote to score the latest game for Transformers Animated. The scores will be based on the music from the new popular TV series. The game is due for release in October 2008.
Rod and Rednote Audio are helping develop the music and live orchestral scores for Electronic Arts’ Dead Space, EA’s new upcoming Horror Sci-Fi game set in the cold blackness of deep space. Dead Head Fred has been nominated for “Best Soundtrack Of The Year” for the 2007 G.A.N.G. Awards. Rednote also received nominations for Blazing Angels 2/Best Original Instrumental, Transformers/Best Handheld Audio and Dead Head Fred/Best Handheld Audio. The G.A.N.G. (Game Audio Network Guild) Awards are being held February 14 during the Game Developers Conference February in San Francisco.
